Welcome to our photo album from this year’s Decoration Day parade—a long-standing tradition at our Legion that honours the service and sacrifice of Canada’s veterans.
Decoration Day was first observed on June 2, 1890. It began with veterans of the 1866 Battle of Ridgeway, fought during the Fenian Raids, who sought recognition for their service. For decades, it served as Canada’s unofficial day of remembrance before the establishment of Remembrance Day. The tradition of placing flowers, wreaths, and flags on soldiers’ graves continues in many communities.
This collection reflects that tradition of honour and remembrance, as our members, families, and supporters gathered to pay tribute. Thank you to all who took part in commemorating this history.
